Sumter County Human Smuggling Arrest

On November 4, 2021, at 2:26 PM, members of the FHP Troop C Contraband Interdiction Unit observed a 2007 Nissan Armada traveling southbound on I-75 near the 310 Milepost in Sumter County, Florida.

The vehicle had illegal window tint and was stopped for that reason.  The driver, Esvil Miguel Soto Perez, 23, of Phoenix, Arizona, presented upon request a Mexican ID Card, but no driver’s license.

Also within the vehicle were four other Hispanic passengers.

The Troopers detained Soto Perez for the driver’s license violation and located a large sum of U.S. currency on his person, as well as several receipts indicating large currency transfers to Mexico.

Soto Perez was later arrested for No Valid Driver’s License and four counts of Smuggling per FSS 787.07.1 and delivered to the Sumter County Jail.

The four passengers, all unknown to one another, had paid for transport to the Tampa area and were transferred to the US Border Patrol who confirmed they had entered the United States illegally.

  1. This goes on in Immokalee every day but you don’t see fhp or immigration there
Naples residents need cheap labor so fhp and immigration look other way
Want to stop immigration and human trafficking
Go after rich Naples residents who hire illegals for cheap labor
FYI IRS looks at those who hire illegals
Want to stop human trafficking arrest the people hiring them
    Zero tolerance
    Zero excuses
