Despite the passage of a bill that would make daylight saving time permanent, we will still turn our clocks forward Sunday Nov. 3.
Former Gov. Rick Scott signed the “Sunshine Protection Act” in March of 2017, but Congress must amend federal law before it can go into effect.
Scott said he supported the move because it would help the state’s tourism.
While the rest of the eastern United States would set their clocks back in the fall, Florida wouldn’t, leaving it with more sunshine in the evening during the winter. Northwest Florida is currently in the Central time zone.
There was no movement during the last congressional session so the bill will likely have to be reintroduced.
