
Moana Rubio of Lehigh Acres is a third grade student at Sunshine Elementary School. Sunshine Elementary School, teacher Emily Camp wrote “Moana is a quiet, friendly girl who is always on task. Moana is a great coach for those who need help. She actually coaches and gives praise rather than telling the student the answers! What a wonderful team player she is.”
Veronica Porcayo-Esquivel of Lehigh Acres is a third grade student at Sunshine Elementary School. Sunshine Elementary School, teacher Theresa Thomas wrote “Veronica has shown me some great leadership in our classroom. She is honest, confident and she inspires her peers. She is willing to go the extra step to do what is right. She is an exceptional student with a heart of gold. I believe that she should be honored. I am proud of her outstanding character.”
O’Hannah Bossous of Lehigh Acres is a third grade student at Harns Marsh Elementary School. Harns Marsh Elementary School, teacher Terri Fay wrote “O’Hannah is a compassionate, kind, caring student. She comes into the classroom every morning with a smile on her faced ready to tackle the day. She strives to do her best on any task. O’Hannah is a true role model for her peers. O’Hannah works with integrity and can be trusted to get the job done. I am very proud to be her teacher this year.”
Aisha Jacqueline Ventura Madrigal of Lehigh Acres is a second grade student at Harns Marsh Elementary School. Harns Marsh Elementary School, school resource officer, Deputy Christoine Zumbrum wrote “during morning student drop off at, Aisha found a bank card that, another parent, had dropped earlier. Aisha picked up the bank card and did the right thing by turning over the bank card to a trusted adult. The card was returned to the rightful owner and they were very appreciative.”
Ryan Van Cleve of Lehigh Acres is a sixth grade student at Veterans Park Academy for the Arts. Veterans Park Academy for the Arts, Mary Blackmon wrote “Ryan noticed a disturbing post on the internet from a student at another school. The post referenced at another school. The post referenced a ‘School Shooter Starter Kit’ with a picture of a gun. Ryan notified his mother who called law enforcement. Ryan’s actions for ‘see something – say something’ was the right thing to do! He exhibited the qualities of a responsible role model for many other children.”
Myla Taylor of Lehigh Acres is a third grade student at Tortuga Preserve Elementary School. Tortuga Preserve Elementary School, teacher Joanna Cauthan wrote “a few girls in class did not like what was for lunch one day. As a result they didn’t have much to eat. The girls told me, as their teacher, so I gave them a snack from class. Myla overheard what had happened and went into her own lunchbox and shared her snack with the girls that did not eat lunch. This wasn’t just any snack, it was her cookies. Myla went above and beyond to show kindness, in her selfless and thoughtful act.”
