The Firefighters just received a 4% pay increase as of Oct 1, 2019.

Opening the contract means a win for the union. Things are going to get quite liberal – Commissioner Kruse, Sherman, Bennett the three-union paid for commissioners voted 3-2 to get things started.

How does Commissioner Sherman and Commissioner Kruse vote on this raise when husband and son get the raise too?
Is this a “special” gain for the Commissioners – could this be a violation of FS 112.3143(3)(a) – Voting conflicts
Commissioner Bennett was spotted talking to three union reps outside after the meeting.

I thought they didn’t have enough money after the tax reform failed? Weren’t they threatening to shut down the fire department not too long ago? Don’t get me wrong, I was a union member myself and believe that people who work hard deserve to get raises, but where is the money coming from if they don’t have enough to run the department as it is now?
