The Lehigh Concert Band Presents Swing meets Dixie
The first half will feature the 14 member Southwest Florida Swing Band composed of musicians from across Lee County who will perform Big Band classics that you all know including Glen Miller’s In The Mood and Pennsylvania 6-5000, Duke Ellington’s Take the A Train, and Benny Goodman’s Moonglow. The music is designed to bring back memories of the Big Band era when Swing was King. Dancing is encouraged.
The second half of the program will feature the Blue Dirt Dixieland Jazz Band. This five-member group of local musicians has been playing Dixieland music in the Southwest Florida area for decades.
It is sure to get your toes tapping with such Dixie classics as Basin Street Blues, Bill Bailey, Tipperary, and When the Saints Go Marching In.
The performance is a not to be missed concert of two great bands playing music that is still popular today. All concerts are free with donations accepted. www.lehighconcertband.org
