Tropical Storm Watch Issued For Lehigh Acres

Tropical Storm Watch issued for Lehigh Acres until 1:30 am Oct 6, 2016

The National Weather Service is expanding the tropical weather alerts in Southwest Florida in advent of Hurricane Matthew’s arrival near the east coast of Florida.

The expanded alerts means as of the 5 p.m. Wednesday advisory from the National Hurricane Center, Lee, coastal Collier, Charlotte and DeSoto Counties will be under a tropical storm watch.

A tropical storm watch means tropical storm-force winds are possible in the advised areas within the next 48 hours.  In the case of incoming Hurricane Matthew, this means tropical storm force wind conditions are possible in the advised counties by Thursday evening.

There are multiple other tropical weather alerts active in southern Florida this evening.
