According to a source a secret meeting between the FBI and Florida’s election supervisors was held Friday warning officials of hackers trying to alter voter ballots.
It comes after hackers threatened voting systems in 20 states in recent months. The FBI’s warning — be aware — Florida is a target.
Even Republican nominee Donald Trump has hinted the election could be rigged.
The FBI thinks so too. That’s why they invited Lee Election Supervisor Sharon Harrington and the other 66 Florida supervisors to a secret meeting on the topic.
How safe is your vote and the systems?
Election officials around the country say it would be nearly impossible to alter an election.
Harrington told us that there are strict rules when it comes to counting votes. She says there are always at least two people in the tabulation room adding that she doesn’t even have a key into that room.
Why doesn’t Ms Harrington have a key? Are the people in the room public employees? Is the “source code” of the counting software available for anyone to examine? Is the software private property?
It would seem that the final vote count is of the greatest importance. It might be dramatically referred to as the “cornerstone” of our “democracy”.
For several decades I have come across articles and interviews regarding the danger of centralized computerized vote counting. The emphasis is that votER fraud (dead people voting, people voting multiple times,etc), vote fraud (ballot box stuffing, disappeared ballots,etc), and voting machine fraud (ballots are flipped, etc.) are next to nothing when compared to the possibilities of fraud using privately owned software to make the final vote count.
There is always the possibility that the companies owning the machines and software are for sale to the highest bidder.

Raise your hand if you would gladly wait till hell freezes over to find out who won the election if only you could trust the counting system. By the way, there are those who have presented hand counting schemes that would be fast enough to please reasonable people.
I would like for all of this to be baseless hogwash. Perhaps someone could persuade me. You could begin by answering the questions at the top, explain why those two websites are full of it, or whether this Curtis guy (and there may be more like him) is a fake.

PS–Here’s a good one–A few years ago in Sarasota County there was a ballot initiative to change to hand counted paper ballots. Guess what happened to it.
