Where: Lehigh Acres, FL – Lehigh Acres Service Area
When: July 1st to July 31st
The Florida Governmental Utility Authority (FGUA) will be conducting a routine chlorine burn and flushing as part of its regular, prudent utility practice beginning on Friday, July 1st, which will be completed by Sunday, July 31st in the FGUA Lehigh Acres System.
This is a routine measure to ensure customers have clean and safe potable water. Beyond a slight difference in odor and taste of the water, most customers will not see a difference in their level of service. During flushing activities, it is possible that some customers may experience discoloration in their water during the flushing activities, as sediment gets purged from the pipes. Should this occur, customers should simply run their faucet or tap for an additional 1-2 minutes until the water flows clear.
In addition, there are special considerations for dialysis patients and aquarium owners. Customers who are on home dialysis, are encouraged to contact their physician or dialysis provider to make sure they are informed of the proper steps they should take to de-chlorinate the water before it is used in the dialysis process. Customers who have fish tanks or aquatic species are advised to contact a professional aquarist to avoid any problems associated with free chlorine. For questions regarding the change in the disinfectant process, please contact the FGUA Customer Service Office at: (239) 368-1615 or visit http://www.fgua.com/outages-and-notices.
