A brush fire burned approximately three quarters of an acre Sunday afternoon.
The fire had started in a vacant lot near 2618 44th Street West.
Lehigh Acres Fire Department responded about 3:00 p.m. to a 911 call of a brush fire, but it came close to one home.
No one was hurt fighting the brush fire and no homes were damaged do to the quick actions of the LAFD.
Fire Marshal is investigating the fire but no official cause has been stated so far.
congrats to the LAFD for a job well done and I’m sure the home owner who’s property was threatened is grateful as well. this is one good reason the citizens of Lehigh have a well equipped and highly trained fire department. now if there could be something done to help reduce the root cause of these brush fires by requiring land owners to “clean up” and reduce the natural fuel build up on their vacant lots.
