Quick actions by residents in the 600 block of Nimitz may have prevented a brush fire from spreading more.
Several people from the Lehigh Acres neighborhood heard thunder and saw lightning they said. Then a short time later a fire broke out in the wooded area.
Lehigh Acres Fire crews responded but residents armed with fire extinguishers and garden hoses helped to surround it.
No damage to structures reported. Lehigh Acres Fire Department fire marshal will investigate the cause.
