Megan Burkhead

Arts of the Inland (AOI) president LaVon Koenig announces a grant presentation is to be made to Megan Burkhead on Tuesday, September 17th at their general meeting (open to the public) being held at ABC Framing, 12801 Commerce Lakes Drive, Ste. 14, Fort Myers.  Megan will play at 6 p.m. and the check presentation will follow.

Megan is a member of the Southwest Florida Youth Symphony which has been invited to perform at historic Carnegie Hall in New York City in April 2014.  The AOI grant will assist Megan with the expense of her trip with the Youth Orchestra.  Koenig said, “We are happy to provide grants to aspiring students so they can be enriched on their cultural journey.”

Megan is a sophomore student at Lehigh Senior High School, is an accomplished flutist having played on the county and state level, and was awarded All State 1st Chair for flute for 7th & 8th graders.

Arts of the Inland is a 501(c)3 umbrella arts organization whose mission is to facilitate and nurture the creation, development, promotion and education of arts and culture in the inland communities of South Florida.  Our members include visual, literary and performing artists as well as students, patrons and sponsors.  AOI is a member of the Art Council of Southwest Florida which represents 19 art organizations and over 6,700 members.
