Lee County Commissioners
Choose New County Manager

Joyce Wilson

Lee Commissioners unanimously agree, they want Joyce Wilson to be the next county manager. Wilson has been city manager in El Paso, Texas, for nearly 10 years. She topped four other finalists for the job.

“She is the most impressive person I have ever seen in a job interview. And I have done a lot of job interviews over the years,” said Lee Commission Frank Mann. “She is articulate, she is specific about fixing problems, she is just outstanding. She blew our socks off.”

Commissioner John Manning agrees. “She is the clear choice. She has great experience and a track record in a very large city with a very diverse population. We are fortunate to get someone as qualified as Joyce Wilson,” said Manning.

Wilson has a Master’s degree from Harvard University, and government management experience in Richmond and Arlington County, Virginia.

She told commissioners that she can probably be here on the job, within about 30 days after signing a contract. Wilson says she wants to move to Lee County because she has family members in the state and in the southeast U.S.
