as interim fire chief
The newly elected fire board in its first meeting which lasted two and half hours came together this evening for their first meeting.
The five members discussed a numerous of issues including reorganizing the board and district rules and regulations.
The board also decided to vote in Battalion Chief John Wayne as interim fire chief.
Wayne was taking care of the operations portion of the role with Assistant Chief Ken Bennett handling the administrative portion.
Wayne will now occupy the position while the district begins its search for other potential candidates.
He will receive a ten percent pay increase to make approximately $133,000, same as Adams did.
Wayne will start his new position on December 10, 2012
In other board news, Larry Becker was selected to serve as chair and Cathy Kruse as vice-chair. David Adams will remain as treasurer/secretary.
During the reports the union has received over $3000 in selling the “pink” shirts and the money is to be donated to local cancer program. Also the fire is donating $1000 to Lehigh Community Services to help with their toy drive.
