A feature of the newly launched Restaurant Guide is a map showing the location of participating eateries.
There is absolutely no doubt about it – we Americans love to eat. And, better yet, we love to dine out – away from home where someone else pampers us preparing and serving the food so the family cook gets this meal off.
We celebrate dining out. We write about it. Produce tons of literature from reviews to guides to recipe books about it. The number of restaurants in the U.S. is staggering considering what the dining out landscape looked like just 50 years ago.
Furthermore, the country has made quite a change from when dining out was a monthly, maybe weekly special event. People dine out every day now. The number one meal people choose when dining out is lunch. The days when workers “brown bagged” a lunch prepared hours before at home are disappearing.
The choices for dining out have also become staggering. The once neighborhood diner now receives stiff competition from all sorts of sources – fast food restaurants are definitely in the game, but so are choices such as that local convenience store where you stop to get gas on the way to work in the morning.
The Gazette is launching the beginning of what will grow to be a popular “local” restaurant guide.Yes, it is a humble beginning (five participating restaurants), but since dining out is a national past time, it should grow in to an important and easily accessible guide helping readers determine where to dine out. Plus, find valuable discounts in the guide to save $$$$ on your next meal dining out!
Check out the guide. We welcome your comments.
Bon appétit!
