From 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on April 7th Lehigh Acres local teen’s will be coming together to give their time and have some fun holding a car wash. The car was is to raise money for the new program From Detention To Prevention.
Donna Arnold took her tragedy of losing her son and turned it into a program for teens and young adults.
Pastor Larry Gregory from Victory Christian Center in Lehigh Acres has donated his church parking lot for the car wash.
The Victory Christian Center is at 1201 Taylor lane EXT. Lehigh Acres. The Church is behind Burger King on Homestead Road. Please bring out your cars the kids are so excited to pitch in and wash your cars for donations.
“from Detention to Prevention, Inc.” was a strong ‘thought’ that came in my mind the morning I was to speak at the Detention Center. Having spoken there since 1997, this time I realized that I needed to do something “AFTER” they were released, too! Three of the youths who signed up became members and have shared their stories and talents with a very receptive community! website
As the days passed, the program’s outline began to take place and I wanted
to create a sense of responsibility and respect in a youth/young adults hearts and outlooks by giving them the opportunity to speak to the community about their bad choices, to capitalize on their individual talents by making them a part of the presentation and to build a safe-place for the youths/young adults of surrounding areas to congregate without disrespect or fighting, and it costs them nothingfor transportation, food, fun and friends!
And with the help of the community who believe that these youths are our future, I believe that my heart’s desire will come true, and I truly hope to have this facility built within 2 years!
