Operation Medicine
Cabinet 2012 Kick Off Results

Lee County Sheriff’s Office  just wrapped up today’s Operation Medicine Cabinet education event with astounding results!

Today Lee County Sheriff’s Officecollected over 8 large bins of unused medications and introduced many citizens to the secure drug drop off boxes located at each of our district offices and headquarters. These drugs are now off our streets and will not land in our landfills or waterways. We don’t have to worry about our children or grandchildren getting a hold of our medications or inadvertently taking an expired or incorrect prescription drug.

Lee County Sheriff’s Office want to thank everyone who dropped off their medications today and participated in Operation Medicine Cabinet. At today’s event we had representatives from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention Unit and Abby Services providing information about CarFit, an educational program that gives information to senior drivers about how to enhance their safety and security in their vehicles, as well as the Lee Elder Abuse Prevention Partnership Coalition who provided information about elder neglect, exploitation and abuse.

At today’s event participants dropped off their medications, received educational material, had an opportunity to participate in a CarFit evaluation, and many people had their blood pressure checked by Abby Services.

Remember you can drop off your unused medications at any of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office district offices and headquarters Monday thru Friday during regular business hours. You don’t have to wait for one of these events.

• All medications must be in a sealed container

• Lee County Sheriff’s Office do not accept sharps (needles, lancets, etc)

• Collected medications will be incinerated offsite
