Did you know that Florida carried out its 15th execution of 2025?
On October 28, 2025, the State of Florida set a new state record for the most executions in a single year, surpassing the previous high of eight set in 1984 and 2014.
Additionally, and as of November 2, 2025, Florida has executed more people than any other U.S. state in 2025, with at least 17 executions projected if all scheduled cases proceed
The latest execution involved Norman Mearle Grim Jr., 65, who was put to death by lethal injection at Florida State Prison for the 1998 rape and murder of his neighbor, 41-year-old lawyer Cynthia Campbell. Grim, who waived his right to further appeals, was pronounced dead at 6:14 p.m. ET. This execution marks the highest number of executions in Florida since the U.S. Supreme Court reinstated the death penalty in 1976.
Grim’s victim, Cynthia Campbell, was found dead in the waters off a Pensacola pier hours after being reported missing; her body showed 18 blunt-force head injuries, 11 stab wounds (seven to the heart), and a genital laceration.
Grim’s last meal consisted of fried pork chops, mashed potatoes with gravy, Brussels sprouts, banana cream pie, a chocolate milkshake, and a soda.
Two additional executions are scheduled in Florida before the end of November: Bryan Fredrick Jennings on November 13th, and Richard Barry Rudolph on November 20th.
