A 72-year-old Lehigh Acres man was arrested Thursday for failing to appear in court on charges of possession of child sexual abuse material.
Martin Jay Benjamin was initially arrested on Dec. 3, 2024, on ten counts of possession of child sexual abuse material.
According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, agents started investigating in November after learning an online user offered to share child sexual exploitation files.
Agents identified Benjamin’s residential address as that of the online user’s.
FDLE conducted a residential search warrant and seized electronic devices. Preliminary digital forensic analysis found multiple files of sexual abuse of children.
Benjamin was taken to the Lee County Jail. On Thursday, Feb. 20, FDLE agents contacted Benjamin at his residence and arrested him for failing to appear for his court case.
According to FDLE, he was taken to the Lee County Jail and is being held without bond.
