Did you know that Florida legislators might attempt to boycott Governor Ron Desantis’ call for the legislature to return for a special session?
Just this past week, DeSantis called for the Florida Legislature to return to the Florida capitol for a special session, emphasizing an urgency to prepare Florida for President Donald Trump’s mass deportation efforts. During a press conference, the governor outlined several goals, including mandating law enforcement participation in federal immigration programs, criminalizing illegal immigration at the state level, and granting Florida the authority to facilitate deportations.
Florida Republican legislature leaders however are opposed. Both Senate President Ben Albritton, and House Speaker Danny Perez have both asked DeSantis to wait until March when the regular session of the Florida Legislature will meet.
Governor DeSantis has not held back on his criticism of both Albritton and Perez for their bucking the Governor’s demand regarding the return of the legislature to deal with the massive number of illegal aliens throughout our state. Ron DeSantis has indicated that he will continue to summon the legislators back until he gets his way on the matter.
