Did you know that there is a current bill in the Florida House which would ban drivers in the left lane, unless passing other vehicles?
Earlier this year, the Florida Senate passed a bill where drivers would need to keep to the right side of the road, street or highway that has two or more lanes and a speed limit of at least 65 miles per hour.
In addition, the bill sets a non-criminal fine of up to $158 for using the left lane unless drivers are attempting to pass other vehicles.
Some critics of the proposed new law state that the Florida highways will only become more congested by taking away a whole lane. Traffic, especially for those travelling to and from their jobs would be on the road much longer than already experiencing.
The Florida House version of this bill is sponsored by Jenna Persons-Mulicka, (R)-Fort Myers.
If the bill is passed by the House and signed by Governor DeSantis, the law is expected to take effect on January, 9, 2024.
yeah lets give them a lane to speed even faster. Why even have speed limit signs up? coming home on Alligator alley the other day they were doing 110 MPH passing me and I was doing 90 just to get out of the way. The speed limits are set for safety and yet your are giving them a green light to speed. Way to go! Whatch more people die on the highway!
