Did you know that the majority of Californians moving out of state are no longer moving to Arizona or Texas, but are choosing to move to Florida instead?
Will Florida now become the new capitol of cauliflower on pizza, or newly built skate board parks? For that past two-years, Californians have largely moved to the state of Texas, but that number has now decreased from more that 107,000 people in 2021, to 102,000 in 2022. In Florida, the number of Californians to move here rose from 37,000, to 50,000 in 2022.
The largest contributor to those choosing to move out of California, are housing costs. Even with housing costs skyrocketing here in Florida, Californians are still finding it cheaper to move to the Sunshine State. Californians pay some of the highest taxes and gasoline prices in the lower-48 states.
If Floridians are also witnessing an increase as well of an influx of New Yorkers locating to our state, you are correct. The number two state seeing residents flee to Florida are indeed, New Yorkers. So, move over fellow Floridians, we have new neighbors and appears that more are yet to arrive.
