Did you know that NOAA has now updated their weather prediction with an increase in hurricanes this year?

Last Thursday, the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration scientists updated their prediction of hurricanes from a near-normal level of activity, to now, an above-normal level of activity.
According to the NOAA website, Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo stated that “The experts at NOAA will continue to provide the science, data and services needed to help communities become hurricane resilient and climate-ready for the remainder of the hurricane season and beyond.”
An average season sees approximately 14 named storms with 7 hurricanes, including three of which reach major-storm status.
The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration upped their forecast from 12-17 storms, to now 14-21 storms.
“I urge everyone to remain vigilant as we enter the peak months of hurricane season,” said Secretary of Commerce Raimondo.
