The School District of Lee County will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Friday to celebrate the opening of Amanecer Elementary School in Lehigh Acres. Construction on the school at 641 Sunrise Blvd. started in March 2022. The half-cent sales tax approved by voters in 2018 is supporting the $56,568,109 total project cost. Amanecer adds 972 student stations for elementary students in Lehigh Acres. When the school opens Aug. 10, it will be the district’s first Cambridge Primary Center, which will provide Cambridge curriculum to help students develop deep subject knowledge, conceptual understanding and higher-order thinking skills.
