Did you know that a Sheriff’s deputy will be charged after turning a man into a human fireball?

Osceola County Sherriff’s Deputy, David Crawford has been charged with a single count of culpable negligence with personal injury in connection with a February 27, 2022 incident where he tasered a suspect after the suspect had gasoline on his body.

According to the State Attorney of the Ninth Judicial District, the suspect, Jean Baretto was being pursued for allegedly violating traffic laws as he was engaging in “popped wheelies” while in traffic on his dirt bike.

State prosecutors stated that Deputy Crawford along with other deputies followed Baretto into a gas station where they confronted him at a gas pump. Allegedly, Crawford tackled Baretto while the other deputies joined in. That is when Crawford tasered Baretto who through being tackled was soaked with gasoline.

Baretto suffered burn injuries over 75% of his body due to the explosion that occurred after being tasered by Deputy Crawford.
