Prepare to enter the Grid.
TRON Lightcycle/Run, the upcoming, much-anticipated ride that promises to transport guests into the Grid for a “special lightcycle race,” will officially be opening at Walt Disney World on April 4, 2023.

As revealed on Disney Parks Blog, this new ride takes place after the events of TRON: Legacy, where “Kevin’s son, Sam Flynn, has opened a second gateway into a digital realm called the Grid.” The first of these portals is already open and can be seen at Shanghai Disneyland’s TRON Lightcycle Power Run.

Guests will feel as though they are transported into the world of TRON as soon as they enter the queue, and once they arrive at the front of the line, they will join Team Blue against “the Grid’s menacing Programs, Team Orange.”
To “secure victory” guests will need to pass through eight Energy Gates and survive one of the “fastest coasters at any Disney theme park in the world.”
While the ride will officially open on April 4, cast members, Annual Passholders, and “eligible Disney Vacation Club Members” may get a chance to ride it before then.

2023 is a big year for Disney, as it is celebrating its 100th anniversary. Disneyland Resort will be the heart of the celebration when it begins on January 27, 2023, with a new nighttime spectacular called Wondrous Journeys, a new show called World of Color – ONE, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and the “Magic Happens” parade.
