One of Lehigh Acres firefighters was transported to the hospital with minor injuries sustained during this incident. As we had several apparatus on this scene.
South Trail Fire District is on the scene with Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District, Fort Myers Fire Department, and Lee County Public Safety for a second alarm fire at Stoneybrook Community. One person has been transported from the scene, the fire is still active.
2:30 pm update: Fire is out. One firefighter has been transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Investigators with South Trail Fire District are on scene, the State Fire Marshal is on the way to investigate the fire.
5:20 pm update: First, we are so very sorry to the family that was affected by this devastating fire. Their home sustained heavy fire and smoke damage, and unfortunately, they lost their family pets too. The crews today did everything they could. Again, we are all so sorry.
The STFD Fire Investigators and the State Fire Marshal have determined the origin of the fire be in the area of the back corner of the garage. The cause of the fire has been ruled Undetermined. All units have cleared the scene.
