Letter to the Editor – This must stop inappropriate relationships and school fights at East Lee County H.S.

Now that there is going to be a new superintendent, the question remains if East Lee County is going to get cleaned up administration wise.

You previously reported on their Associate Principal Dr. Karen Blaze having an inappropriate relationship with the AD Joshua Evans which resulted in his divorce and East Lee losing a highly qualified teacher.

After the lackluster investigation by the previous Equity person, the only rumored thing to be occurring is the AD is being replaced and moved to a middle school.

Meanwhile, this relationship caused a rift in student respect to the point of students capturing their pictures in town and making comments on various Instagram accounts.

The fighting has significantly increased which is evident on the EastLeeFights Instagram page.

Perhaps, student behavior is a direct reflection on school leadership in which the new superintendent should look into.

Our students in the East Zone deserve better and had this taken place at Fort Myers High or Estero swifter action would have been taken.

My child deserves better than being distracted by adult drama in her school.

  1. Students have also shared multiple photos of the two having the affair seen in public yet the district did nothing. Why is it that the Associate Principal has gotten away with this multiple times? What example does it set for our children? The community? That’s why our zone is seen as the “worst” zone. You are absolutely correct. If this was Fort Myers High, swift action would have been taken. After East lost 5 highly effective teachers who feared retaliation for taking part in being interviewed against the affair investigation, nothing was done until January? Since then, three of them faced retaliation even after leaving East Lee County so they both resigned from the school district entirely. Losing educators that are highly qualified and highly effective of 10 Plus years is worth saving this Associate Principal? During a teacher shortage? Wow.
