Municipal Services Improvement District discusses Lehigh’s famous ‘cookie’ sign

The Lehigh Acres Municipal Services Improvement District held its monthly meeting on Sept. 20. One of the agenda items discussed was Lehigh Acres’ notable “Nickel” sign and who will assume the right to maintain it.

“The district is currently in negotiations with Lee County to take over the Welcome to Lehigh Acres cookie-shaped sign, to own and maintain. We currently have the signage powers and we have the ability to maintain it, so it seems to be the best solution. Lee County seems willing to move forward on it,” District Manager David Lindsay said.

During last month’s meeting, LAMSID Commissioners voted to move their regular monthly meetings to the fourth Tuesday of each month. The new meeting day goes into effect in October 2021.

Lehigh Acres Municipal Services Improvement District holds monthly meetings inside its Barrett Room, 601 East County Lane Lehigh Acres. Meetings begin at 6 p.m. and are open to the general public.

  1. Doesn’t MUNICPLE IN THE SIGNS LAMSID IS PUTTING UP IMPLYING WE ARE A MUNICIPALITY WHICH BY DEFINITION IN DICTIONARY WE ARE A CITY AND IN TERMS INCORPORATED?
LAMSID IS PLACED SIGNAGE STATIING POPUL8OF 135 THOUSAND

SO IF WE ARE CONSIDERED A MUNICIPALITY WHY ARE LEE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS STILL OVERSEEING AND TAKING MONIES FRO FROM TAXPAYERS OF LEHIGH ACRES?
Lee county commissioners must answer this question or LAMSID must remove MUNICIPALITY in the signs that are at entrance to Lehigh acres on lee Blvd?
    Can’t have it both ways
    Zero tolerance
    Zero excuses
