Letter to the editor: It’s SO important to have a will or trust

By Mary Ann Pendergrass Massie

After Covid we had ours done, in the hospital, I didn’t think I would make it and I thought ohh nooo I didn’t have the trust done. ?I think that kept me alive. “”My mother passed w/o a will. Telling my brother and me that all was to be split equally and I was to get her jewelry.

While I was in Tampa letting her go my brother LEFT, missed her peaceful passing.

To come back and clean out her account and kept her diamond rings in his safe. Almost 3 yrs. later, he has all paperwork and refuses to show me anything even from her burial. I moved her a year later to the 3rd level instead of level 5. I can touch her crypt. I had her picture and a vase put on for her. My brother didn’t want to spend the money when she passed. “” I “” paid for all that.

Then he asked the funeral home if he would get any money back since we moved her?. Even though WE paid. Of course not, being level 3 was more expensive, but he didn’t offer to help pay the 7,000 difference. That was fine bc I love where she’s at and my choice to move her. Last week, I caught him in a lie abt the sell of her condo money, that was it.

I’m done. The condo lie did it. He will not be transparent about anything but I know what my Mon had. We are forever estranged now. I am very broken, even though this was always his character, I would never do this to him.

I would say here’s half and here is the proof. My brother is greedy, selfish, liar and a thief and sadly and scary YOUR “”county commissioner.”” I had to grieve this situation, that I’m sure happens to other families, and it’s so sad. Everyone needs a trust I do feel sorry for Cecil , God does not like greed.

That’s right my brother is Lee County Commissioner Cecil Pendergrass…….

They may contain assertions that are controversial or non-factual and they usually don’t seek to be as unbiased and objective as true newspaper stories should – and must.

Sometimes, an entire newspaper will collectively print and endorse an editorial written by a staff member or a few staff members. For example, conservatives tend to deride the New York Times because its editorials tend to espouse “liberal/progressive” points of view. Conversely, progressives make similar claims about the Wall Street Journal. However, the pure news content of both papers seeks to be objective.
