A Lehigh Acres man is back in Lee County Jail after failing to appear in court on multiple charges including drug trafficking, grand theft auto, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Bill Dean Fox, 39, was to appear for a case management conference Tuesday before Judge Robert J. Branning but never showed. A bench warrant issued for Fox resulted in his arrest Wednesday and he remains in jail on no bond.
He will be arraigned on the new charges on Sept. 8.
A Sheriff’s Office report said a deputy on traffic duty on April 5 on Michael G. Rippe Parkway at U.S. 41 saw Fox and stopped the red Hyundai sedan he was driving at Greenwood Park Circle shortly after 11 p.m. The deputy recorded Fox doing 65 mph in a 50 mph speed zone.
Deputies found the Hyundai was reported stolen out of Cape Coral, and Fox, a convicted felon, was driving on a suspended license.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies found 76.4 grams of methamphetamines, 65.6 grams of crack cocaine, a loaded 9mm handgun, $5,757 in a backpack, and two shotgun shells, the arrest report states.
