
Edgar Keller Jr., 31, of Lehigh Acres, was found guilty as charged with DUI with Serious Bodily Injury following a two-day trial in Charlotte County.
On February 3, 2018, there was a head-on collision at the intersection of Tamiami Trail and E. William Street in Punta Gorda.
The defendant had been driving the wrong way, going southbound in the northbound lane.
He crashed into a car driven by a nurse, who suffered serious injuries.
The Punta Gorda Police Department handled the investigation.
A blood draw was taken from the defendant and a toxicology report indicated there were four different controlled substances in his system.
He was then arrested and charged for the crash. Sentencing is scheduled for August 20th.
Assistant State Attorney Garrick Soja and Assistant State Attorney Caitlin Sorenson prosecuted the case.
