We Support the Parental Rights Bill

OP-ED

There is currently a parental rights bill before the Florida legislature. The bill in part puts some authority back in the hands of parents rather than government agencies, schools and teachers.

For too long now, our Florida Legislature has stripped away the Natural Rights of parents to raise and have a voice over how their children are raised.

Currently, Florida parents have very little protection against intrusive and abusive teachers, counselors and others who insist that they may at will overrule parental decisions in a child’s life. These abuses include taking children to get abortions, forced vaccinations and other health-related issues.

We believe that this bill has been needed for quite some time to protect children from politicians like Rep. Spencer Roach who feels they can overrule parental Natural Rights that come from our Creator as our Founding Father also believed.

Current language in the bill states that “Creating the ‘Parents’ Bill of Rights”; prohibiting the state, its political subdivisions, other governmental entities or other institutions from infringing on parental rights unless specified conditions are met; requiring each district school board to develop and adopt a policy to promote parental involvement in the public school system; prohibiting health care practitioners and their employees from providing health care services or prescribing medicinal drugs to a minor child without a parent’s written consent, etc.”

We urge every Floridian to contact their Florida Representatives to pass this legislation and fully support the bill to be passed and signed by Governor DeSantis.
