Vehicle T-Bones charter school bus, two students have minor injuries

A busload of students had to wait for new transportation after their school bus was struck by another vehicle in Lehigh Acres Wednesday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an SUV driven by a 43-year-old Lehigh Acres woman was traveling north on Pine Cove Drive, approaching a stop sign at the intersection of Jaguar Boulevard. The bus from charter school Donna J. Beasley Academy was traveling east on Jaguar Boulevard, approaching the intersection of Pine Cove Drive with 13 students in tow.

The SUV failed to stop at the stop sign, colliding with the right side of the bus. Two students were transported to Lehigh Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. The driver of the SUV was cited for an infraction for running the stop sign.

  1. As there were injuries and it’s a school bus she should get a heavier ticket than just an infraction for running a stop sign
