Scrub Gate … Last week interim Sheriff Marceno said that a civilian employee confessed to placing insulting posts on the agency site. Interestingly, Marceno also put out a release stating he had immediately suspended and transferred that employee.
So, where’s the problem?
1. Who was it? Typically, the Sheriff’s Office releases the member’s name and photo with the release;
2. The perp did more than just place an offensive statement on the page, the perp scrubbed the comments which is a crime;
3. There was no mention by Marceno that he turned his investigation over to the State Attorney for review for criminal charges; and,
4. Every person, except one, I have spoken to believes the perp is actually Marceno himself! Almost no one believes it was anyone other than Marceno who made the comments. Face it, it’s language Marceno uses himself all the time.
I want the name and picture of the member, his/her time of employment, his/her training and the new position.
Big Problem: it’s hard to believe a trained public information officer would scrub that site. On day one of PIO training, they teach you it’s a crime to do that!
