FGCU to halt in-person classes for two weeks, asks students to go back home

Florida Gulf Coast University is shifting to remote, or distance, classes for the next two weeks and encouraging students to go back home.

The announcement, made in a Wednesday evening email, falls in line with a directive from state university officials to “minimize” the health risks of coronavirus.

The halt of in-person classes at the south Fort Myers campus will begin Sunday and last through March 29, said President Mike Martin in an email message to students.
