The Florida Forest Service will be conducting a 360 acre prescribed burn on January 08, 2020 at Picayune Strand State Forest.

The boundaries of the prescribed burn are Miller Blvd on the West side, 72nd Avenue SE on the North side, Miller Canal on the East side, and 78th Avenue SE on the South side. The forest is positioned, East of Naples, South of I-75 and North of US 41. Motorists and residents should exercise caution in the area.
The prescribed burn serves as a form of ecological management for red-cockaded woodpecker habitat and serves to reduce hazardous fuels for wildfire safety.
