A 6th-grade student at Harns Marsh Middle School, Anthony Hernandez (DOB 4/12/07), was arrested today after being found in possession of a concealed firearm on campus.

Other students alerted school administrators that Hernandez was in possession of a firearm. Hernandez was quickly located, removed from the classroom, and administratively searched. The search revealed and confirmed that Hernandez had a loaded firearm in his backpack.
Detectives with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Youth Services Division assumed the investigation. After interviewing numerous students and gathering facts, Hernandez was arrested and charged with a felony of: Possession of Firearm on School Property.
“I’m very proud of how my team worked quickly with school officials to control this potentially dangerous situation,” stated Sheriff Carmine Marceno. “See it, say it, make the call. That’s what happened here, and it worked.”
