Detorian Shakeen Everett, Jr. was sentenced to 15 years in prison as a prison release re-offender and 5 years in prison to be served concurrently for breaking into and burglarizing a home in Lehigh Acres.
In April of this year, deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home for a burglary that had just occurred. The homeowner called law enforcement after getting a notification on her cell phone from the “Ring” doorbell camera app and observed the defendant standing at her front door. She did not know the man and saw him break into her home by smashing a front window and opening the door.
The first deputy arrived in minutes and saw the defendant walking out of the house with a book bag and carrying a large television. The deputy told the defendant to come to the end of the driveway to speak to him. Instead of doing so, Everett dropped everything and ran.
Additional deputies arrived on scene and set up a perimeter, while a K-9 unit was also brought to the scene to search for him. The defendant was quickly located and stood up stating “you guys caught me red handed.” There were numerous items stolen from the home including a PlayStation 4 console, watch and cell phone.
Bracewell was adjudicated guilty on one count of Burglary of an Unoccupied Dwelling Unarmed and Grand Theft $300 or more, Less than $5,000 Dollars.
