Astronauts Prepare for a Record-Breaking 10 Spacewalks in 3 Months

Astronauts on the International Space Station are preparing for a record pace of 10 spacewalks in three months, a cadence that has not been experienced since assembly of the space station was completed in 2011. They’ll replace batteries on the solar arrays and repair an important science instrument exploring the universe.
Veteran spacewalkers Christina Koch and Andrew Morgan will exit the station’s Quest airlock on Oct. 6 at 7:50 a.m. ET for a six-and-half hour spacewalk. This will be the first of five spacewalks in October to upgrade station power systems. NASA TV coverage begins at 6:30 a.m. ET.
