Lehigh Acres Fire Control & Rescue District in violation of Florida Statutes

There was a Lehigh Acres Fire Commission meeting on June 25, 2019 and now the department is in violation of FS 120.525 (2)

120.525 Meetings, hearings, and workshops.—

(2) An agenda shall be prepared by the agency in time to ensure that a copy of the agenda may be received at least 7 days before the event by any person in the state who requests a copy and who pays the reasonable cost of the copy. The agenda, along with any meeting materials available in electronic form excluding confidential and exempt information, shall be published on the agency’s website. The agenda shall contain the items to be considered in order of presentation. After the agenda has been made available, a change shall be made only for good cause, as determined by the person designated to preside, and stated in the record. Notification of such change shall be at the earliest practicable time.

At 10 am 6/25/2019 the Lehigh Acres Gazette was looking for the agenda and meeting material for the evenings meeting it was not on the Lehigh Acres Fire Control & Rescue District website as per 120.525(2). So, we emailed Fire Chief Robert Dilallo at 10:17 am and no answer. By 2:20 pm we called the department spoke to Anita Kummer, she emailed the agenda and meeting material to us. And someone by 4 pm posted the commissioners packet which includes the agenda on the website.

But the agenda and meeting material should have been posted on June 18, 2019 on their website. This is a form if mismanagement … Are the Commissioners or the Fire Chief mismanaging other things?

Florida Statute 120.525 is part of the Administrative Procedure Act in Florida and .525 Meetings, hearings, and workshops makes sure that citizens know what is going in the departments public meetings, hearings, and workshops.

  1. I felt ill informed concerning the vote for ad volorum increase for property lot owners. I believe the increase would of passed if fully understood.

    1. I have heard many people over the past month say similar things as being “ill informed “. I do not understand how someone can say this. There were multiple meetings, town hall discussion, and advertising leading up to the vote. It was easy to understand that this change was needed. Yet, the good ole people of Lehigh did what we do best, nothing and then complain!

      1. Citizen? Don’t even have the guts to use your name? It has been shown time & time again that funds are being misused and yet you think we should have given them more? Maybe they should stop using fire trucks (plural) to do food shopping and run errands! This is something that should be done on their time, not our dime!!! I have the utmost respect for these men and the work they do, however I do NOT respect abusing money in any way by anyone! Get an outside auditor to check the books, guaranteed they can make big changes.
