The Cavaliers Domino Club is holding its annual awards ceremony on Mother’s Day to award two high school students with a $1,000 scholarship.
Club member Vernon Angel said they have provided scholarships for the last four years. This year the awards ceremony will be held from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, May 12.
“The function is on Mother’s day. It is a sit down meal. We have a live band and there is a program to go along with it,” he said, adding that there also will be something given to mothers.
The club currently has 75 members, both social, and domino players. They are always looking for more members.
The club is a nonprofit organization that enjoys supporting the Lehigh Acres community. He said from time to time they have guest speakers at their meetings, which includes both fire and police providing updates about what is taking place.
