Farmer Joe’s Organic Foods, a juice, smoothie and healthy cuisine cafe, is now open across from the library. It’s an extension of Healthy Harvest Community Farms, a non-profit community garden project that includes farms in Lehigh Acres and Fort Myers. Much of the produce grown on the farms is donated to local food banks. Over the years, CEO Joe Pearson has crafted mason jar salads from his organically grown produce, selling them to area gyms and businesses.
In Lehigh Acres the Mason jar salads and soon Farmer Joe’s guacamole will be at Max’d Out Fitness Center at 3114 Lee Blvd.
“We’re all about promoting a healthy lifestyle,” Pearson said.

He was given the opportunity to open a downtown location that would help promote the farms and its mission. Farmer Joe’s will officially open Dec. 2, 2016.
“People are wanting to sit and stay here and eat,” he said, which prompted him to bring in a table.
The menu features the jar salads, including What the Kale, Billy Bob Cobb, and Taco Joe. Customers can also purchase fresh produce and prepared items such as sunflower pesto and guacamole.
Farmer Joe’s hours are 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday to Saturday. Find it at 2400 First St., suite 104. For more information, call 938-4613 or visit farmerjoes.net.
