We have listened to video of the Fire Commissioner candidates speaking at the community candidate’s forum hosted by the Lehigh Acres Community Council on Oct 13, 2016.
One thing was quite noticeable, all the fire commissioner candidates stated no new stations would be built ……….. turn the page to the first meeting after the election ……. Commissioner Linda Carter wants to tear down stations 101, 102 and 103 and build new ones. (YES, she said it.)
Interim Fire Chief Robert DiLallo wants to build a legacy for himself on the taxpayer’s dime and build a Fire Complex on Homestead Rd, which would include a fire station, administration offices, maintenance department and a fire training tower. (MILLIONS and MILLIONS of today’s tax payer dollars over 5 to 10 years and not Impact Fee dollars like it should be.)
Can Lehigh Acres afford this ……. The answer is “NO” ……. REMEMBER THIS WARING they the Fire Commissioners can raise your Fire Fee Assessment without the voters’ approval ………
PLEASE come to the Jan 17, 2017 5 pm meeting at Station 104 on Sunshine Blvd and speak your mind for or against …….
Thanks again. As a non-resident of FL, I did not attend any meetings prior to the election, since I couldn’t vote. I’m glad to hear of those pledges, which I, or someone, should confront them with. You’ve begun to see the empire rising. Do you know – can their assessment authority be limited or made subject to independent approval of some sort at this point? I do not believe you can get a new referendum addressing what I see as a major problem approved by voters. -not yet, anyhow. But I hope it would come up at the upcoming meeting.
