Family Seeks New Home for Special Needs Adoptees

A Lehigh Acres family with several adopted special-needs children is seeking assistance to buy a house that can accommodate its growing ranks.

The Hamilton have their eyes on a 12-bedroom house in Dunbar and are trying to raise the $200,000 it would cost to buy it, plus additional money needed to renovate it. They’ve set up a GoFundMe page to accept donations.

Most of Scott and Cherrie Hamilton’s 14 children still live with the family, crammed into three bedrooms of a house here in Lehigh Acres.

Keeping germs away from one of the children is always the key, since his condition means a simple cold can land him in intensive care.

Extra burdens are nothing new for a couple with plans to add to their brood of 12 adopted children and two biological kids.

Cherrie Hamilton said, we take on the ones that are more medically complex, the ones that are harder to place.
