Two people were injured and one person killed in a shooting near the Gulf Coast Town Center early Saturday morning, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.
Marcos Hood, 28, died at the hospital, deputies said. His death is being investigated as a homicide, according to LCSO.
Deputies are at multiple locations investigating what they initially called an “overnight incident.”
Ben Hill Griffin Parkway was closed between Alico Road and the Miromar Footbridge around 7 a.m., but subsequently reopened before 8:30 a.m.
There are other parts of Alico Road, Ben Hill Griffin Parkway and Treeline Road where deputies and detectives are investigating, Lt Dektas said.
Crime scene tape was also seen at Gulf Coast Town Center.
Deputies said the public is not in danger.
