Editorial by Robert Anderson Publisher Lehigh Gazette
An elections complaint was filed against Fire Candidate Robert Bennett, seat 1, for not filling campaign expenses. Bennett signed an affidavit on 6/23/2016 saying that he would not expend, collect. Solicit, or accept any money or contributions in-kind in connection with his campaign. But in the Oct 2016 Merchant’s Marketer page 13 there is a half-page ad paid and approved by Bennett.
The election law starts that advertisements must be paid in full before they run the advertisement.
The Lehigh Acres Gazette called Robert Bennett and he stated he fixed that issue and refused to go in to detail.
Bennett did file a new DS-DE-9 form with the Lee County Election office but on 10/6/2016 after the advertisement in the Merchant’s Marketer was already release.
And in Bennett’s 10/1/16 through 10/7/2016 report shows no contribution, In-Kind, or Expenditures. Why?
Bennett is a former Firefighter and chief officer, do we need another person does not understand the law?
