The Lee County staff has informed the Slide the City organizer that Lee County Administration has denied its request.
The Slide the City event is not consistent with the type of event that would be allowed in one of the county’s community parks, which is what Veterans Park is.
Typically events of large size file an application for a special event permit well in advance of selling tickets. Originally when the event was first advertised, it was marketed as being held on non-county property. Only recently did organizers announce plans to consider Veterans Park as an event site.
