TS Colin Update

Southwest Florida will see rain throughout much of the early evening Monday.

Naples, Bonita Shores and Pelican Bay were under a tornado warning until 3:15 p.m. A similar warning was issued for Lee and Charlotte counties early Monday morning as Tropical Storm Colin approaches the Gulf Coast.

No touchdowns were reported during the warnings, but it served as a sign of expected weather to come.

Most of the severe weather activity was off shore as of 6 a.m., but areas including Englewood, Cape Coral and Pine Island were experiencing heavy rain early Monday morning.

Winds gusts could reach up to 40 m.p.h. during the day with rainfall up to three inches. Isolated tornados are possible as temperatures are expected to reach 85 degrees.

Southwest Florida, which is under a flood watch until 12 a.m. Tuesday, is expected not to have a direct impact from Colin as the storm is expected to make landfall between Tampa and Cedar Key by Monday evening.
