More Wasted Tax Dollars At The Lehigh Acres Fire District

Editorial – Lehigh Acres Gazette Editorial Staff

Fire Dept pays $2000 a month of your tax dollars for lawn maintenance of all five stations, but they own five John Deere riding lawn moving. That cost the Fire District nearly $ 9000 over 9 year period to purchase, but now the Chief Wayne wants surplus the equipment and dispose of it.

Why is the tax payers paying $24,000 for lawn moving when it is less expense to maintain for high quality riding lawn movers? The employees of the district should take proud in working for the fire district doing simple maintenance – lawn care. They use too.

Chief Wayne doing the same thing with three 2005 ice machines with bins, “so called” these ice machines and bins cannot use for drinking purpose. So they are going to surplus this equipment also and dispose of it.

Maybe it time us as a community stand up surplus and dispose a fire chief. By the way, Wayne is leaving the department anyway in July of 2016.

  1. for many of us senior citizens the extra money for the fire dept added to our taaxes is a burden and he sits there thinking of ways to spend it. I thought it was charged to us to save jobs hge is a liar and he can’t leave fast enough

  2. I propose that I will mow the lawns for $1000 a month. Saving the district $12k instantly. Also, I would like to purchase a lawnmower for my personal use at the upcoming auction for said lawnmowers….as I’m sure all 9 are already not spoken for by firefighters, management, or their family and friends right?

    When is the surplus sale?
Maybe I’ll buy a fire truck and start my own private non-profit fire department…..saving the district millions.
