The Lehigh Acres Fire Department has voted 4 to 1 (Commissioner Smith) to start an ordinance to make you pay any fire fee that is due or they will lien your property and could foreclose on it to get the fees paid.

This claim is not accurate and the Fire District respectfully requests that this story be clarified/updated. The discussion of unpaid “fire fees” was specifically related to annual fire inspection fees and other related fees in reference to business, commercial projects, etc. We do not inspect residential properties. This has nothing to do with the Fire Fee Assessment and this was addressed at the end of the Commission Meeting on February 23, 2016 as well. Thank you.
We never mention fire assessment in the story because is a tax not a fee…… the story is about fire fees aka ambulance fees, user fees, inspection fees, false alarm fee which can be on residential property also no classification needed to the article.
